Hi there,

Got an issue that has just started in the last hour or so and can't figure out what it is. When I'm moving slow, turning the steering wheel left and I'm hearing this crunching/snapping sound from behind the wheel. Doesn't do it when I turn right.

I had a feel around and nothing is moving, new wishbones on both sides in the past few months too.

Any ideas?

Just to add it only ever makes the noise when my driver side wheel is on, when it's off and there is no resistance there is no noise

I have exactly the same issue but happens when turning right, only when doing no more than 5 mph. I think its either the front spring or shocker, someone correct me please:eek:

might be a power steering issue
with engine running if you pull steery wheel and hold it slightly on lock does it make like groaning noises and you can feel it through the steery wheel too
be gentle

Hi, i know what sound and feeling you are thinking but in my case it is not that, I just haven't had time to have a good look

So had the car on stands today as it was a lovely day, went through ever single bit of front suspension. Turns out it's the drivers side strut mount bearing not pivoting properly when turning the wheels left, strut and spring still in really good condition so ordered a new bearing off of shop4parts who were amazing to deal with. Have a look at your struts. A little test to do is have some turn your steering wheel in the offending direction, if you see your front spring on your strut sort of "snapping" with each turn, it will be the mount bearing that needs replacing. Cheap enough and easy enough to do.

Nah wasn't power steering, I had just taking motor and ECU out not that long ago and resoldered all the connections, power steering is working like a dream. *touches wood*
