I'd suggest you don't drive the car on that tyre.

I had exactly the same thing happen to a friend who'd just bought a new 500. I was about to put the spare on to take it to a tyrefitter when I stopped & unscrewed the offending item - and to my astonishment, it was a stubby little 15mm screw & the expected hissing noise wasn't there.

A quick brush with soapy water revealed no obvious leakage and the tyre is still holding up fine a year later.

Had we driven on the tyre, I very much doubt we'd have got away with it.

Thinking about it, very short screws are more likely to rest in the road pointy side up & so are more likely to stick in the tyre.

In all honesty, though, I'd say it's a 10% chance at best. I very much hope I'm wrong & will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Plenty of tread on there. It's a Potenza RE050A

if the two treadblocks on the left hand side aren't worn into one there's still pleeeeeenty of life in it :)

tyre depth was fine (image was taken at night with flash ) anyways,
£60 later.....10mins @ kwik-e-mark, I'm back on road....on high 'screw alert!!!' :slayer:

did they refuse to repair it or did you prefer to put a new one on ? If there was good thread left on the tyre I would have been tempted to have it plugged leaving a matching pair on the rear once you weren't driving predominately on motorways.

It was far too close to the outside of the tyre for them to safely repair it.
