Technical Scratching clutch....

Technical Scratching clutch....

I bled the slave this morning and got some footage.

I compared this clutch to that in my GP. The pedal feels about the same and when looking through the bell housing window they look about the same.

Its deffo best to check things as i go.

I'm not far off finishing the clutch. When I get around to starting the car for the first time i'll take some video and upload it here, so it'll be a surprise to whoever reads. I think on the balance of probability it'll all be fine, perhaps there will be some minor issue that needs addressing. I'm not expecting any loud screeching catastrophe, but who knows?

On a side note i left the battery in the car for a time and it shorted out. The battery was only a few months old but is now at 0% health and can't be recharged. I've bought a de-sulfator in the hopes of bringing it back to life but if that doesn't work i'll have to get a new battery. It also occurs to me that the strut mounts may boing given the length of time the car has sat there. I've got a lot of grease on the cups hopefully protecting them, but only time will tell.

I've spent around £65 on the clutch, but could be due another £65 for a battery and something like £100 for struts and mounts. Oh and while under the car doing the clutch i noticed that the front brakes need fixing...mmm...Puntos eh...maybe the engine will blow up and it can go the scrap yard lol

given I refurbished the whole front end of my mk1 for less than a couple of hundred quid, it is at least fair to say that Puntos are cheap.

Looks like it’s all working ok then 👌🏻😁
Yes i'm chuffed thanks :D

I turned the car around and put it back on the drive a moment after the footage ended because I had to go out. I took it for a longer drive just after dinner and it went through all the gears perfectly. Its now dark so i'll have to check it over tomorrow but its looking good so far :D

Thanks for your help!

The clutch appears to be fixed, its been on another proper run this morning and there were no problems.

I managed to save the battery that was at 0% health with a desulfator, its now at 90% health and should last many years.

The brakes and tyres need attending to, but they're in the routine maintenance category and can get done for the MOT in May.

So all that remains in this thread is to say thanks to everyone who helped. Its much appreciated.
