Was slightly surprised when having a poke around under the bonnet of my 8 month old Pop to see that the tops of the suspension struts which come through into the engine bay are extremely rusty.

Has anyone else experienced this on their cars?

Ah thanks for that! I did a Google search and nothing turned up.. will have a read of that! :)

every single 500 i have worked on has this happening, even from PDI. There is no fix for it, unless you count a bit of grease. I have never seen one snap even when i have replaced strut tops on them!

Can't see you snapping an m12 ish threaded rod... big problem for the home mechanic trying to remove using an Alan key to hold the strut shaft without it rounding out

well doglips try putting a rag inbetween the grips and shocker, plus its standard to me!

Is that an attempt at an insult?

These are "Doglips" - no, really, they are.
