Evening all,

Our 500 is going in for its second service on Tuesday, and it will be going to Roundswell Fiat in Barnstaple. I believe they are quite a new Fiat franchise, but not 100% certain on that fact.

It's basically the 18k service as per the schedule but with a brake fluid change as well (had a low mileage one last year).

I am supplying the consumables which come to around £75, and I will be paying Roundswell £103 for the remainder (which is labour + brake fluid).

I had some good dealings with them, and bearing in mind they were £200 cheaper than any other Fiat dealer in Devon (doesn't take a genius to work out who that might be!:D), I am hoping my faith is rewarded.

Will update accordingly next week...

Just picked up the car this morning, and they have done a good job!(y)

Near side brakes were squealing a bit last week so they took a look at them and cleaned them off to stop them sticking, which is what I thought was likely to be the issue.

Also gave the car a good clean too which is nice. Not so nice is the fact that it's grubby again straight away!

I would definitely recommend anyone who is within a reasonable distance of Barnstaple to use them. The chap I dealt with in the Service dept is called Ian. He knows the 500 servicing schedule and is clued up on Selenia oils etc, unlike the people I spoke to from the "Big V" garages....;)

I live but 10 miles from them. I believe the Fiat, Toyota and Hyundai are all the same group. I used to have my Hiace work van serviced by Toyota and their service is good so I would expect nothing more. I also know one of the sales guys that work for Fiat and one of their mechanics. Nice little review (y)

That's encouraging to hear. Seems like they have good knowledgeable staff as well then which always makes the difference.

I don't want to slag Vospers off too much (they did a good job on some bodywork that needed doing), but their service prices stated on the Internet are just mind-blowingly expensive. See this link:

http://www.vospers.com/servicing/pricing/

As I stated on the thread in the 500 section, they want £235 (minimum!) for an interim service on a 1.2 500 with a/c.

Bearing in mind I paid £50 less than that for a full 18k service plus brake fluid, it only goes to show what a complete rip-off those prices are. Shame really as the staff at Plymouth are good, but there's no way in a million years that I will go there for servicing now.

Oops, sorry Southern Wombat! Few months late...

Actually, I don't have an email. But I just received a letter today stating that Roundswell was no longer going to be representing the Fiat brand.

Roundswell Fiat is apparently closing at the end of this month. According to the letter it was "no longer viable" to invest in the brand - read into that what you will I guess...

So that just leaves Vospers in Devon and Cornwall for Fiat - not great for competition it must be said:confused:
