Morning campers.Does any know how to reset the service indication on a 2014 3Lt turbo diesel Ducato to stop the ECU/OBD shutting down the engine into limp home mode, thinking that the service has not been carried out.many thanks bill

Are you sure the engine goes into limp mode?
It used to be just a friendly invitation (yellow tool) to visit the dealer. You can clear it with an ODB-2 tool or just keep on driving until it is switched off.

My 2013 handbook says "SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
(for versions/markets where provided)
This warning light comes on at the scheduled
service warnings and stays on constantly when
the deadline is reached. The warning light goes off after
the service has been carried out at a Fiat Dealership or
once 1000 km have been covered at the service
deadline."

No mention of limp mode. Why do you think the service warning will put it into limp mode?

CDK and rayc many thanks for you help. my information is from a old neighbour who managed to have a heart attack last sunday so until he gets better Im still asking questions.Garages and I do not get on,to that end I do nearly all my own work, and always use genuine Fiat spares.Yes limp mode is an assumption but my owner hand book 2014 page 25/26 says Engine performance will decrease if driving is continued in these conditions, ie failure to reset the scheduled service plan.Again many thanks and if anything comes to mind please let me know. kind regards bill

Hi bill85 - I have a 58plate Trigano Tribute. When I was touring Ireland a few weeks ago the service spanner lit up - I checked the handbook to see what the issue was. The book indicated that a 45,000km service was required and that the light would be reset at the service or would go out after 1,000km. I drove this distance and the light went out. No issues with the van's performance but I will be bringing forward the annual service.

Hi Mike. thank you very much for your info.I can see I am well behind the times . many years ago I built a interpreter [as it was then called] based on a ELM327 chip put together by Silicon Chip an Australian electronics mag.It worked well but was cumbersome especially finding some where to balance the laptop Then around 2010 I picked up a Actron hand held scanner cp9575. the multiecuscan looks very good I will certainly look into it. again many thanks regards bill

Hi Stewart. Thank you for your info. From what you have said it certainly puts my mind at ease.Fiat dealerships are fare and few in fact their is less than ten registered Fiat dealers in Australia.Again many thanks regards bill

Nice one Bill. (y) With this kit you still have the problem of balancing your laptop somewhere  With multiecuscan you can use it for resetting error codes without registering it but only in 20 minutes sessions, you have to register it to use all the facilities but the support from Yani, the author, is very good and he is a member on here. Good luck.

Hi Mike. thank you for your info. the multiecuscan looks very good I will try the free version to see how things work, expect I will go for the registered version.change of subject been reading with interest the forum on EGR although not finished all the threads one thing comes to mind, if you blank the EGR take off on the engine where does the pressure inside the engine go?. A modification used a lot in Oz is to use a catch can to condense the hot engine vapours and empty it out as required.I have used it on my old MGB GT although a very crude device it works. Thanks again for your help regards bill

Hi Mike again. I think I may have committed the forum cardinal sin of mixing up questions. My EGR should have been the start of a new thread.Having had lunch and time to think the answer to crank case pressure is through the rocker cover oil filler. or even the dip stick. Thanks again bill.

Bill. Add you question to the EGR thread to get the best answers.

As far as I know blanking the EGR will not increase the crankcase pressure as it is really just a divert valve for exhaust gasses back into the inlet manifold.

The crankcase has an oil vapour recovery device fitted that lets any remaining pressure vent into the inlet pipework so should not need a separate condensing bottle.

Your van may well have an electronic valve not a vacuum one so the kit to blank it is not available yet. It is not just about fitting a blanking plate but also fitting a cheating device to adjust the air/fuel mixing due to the lack of exhaust gasses that are now not being recycled back into the inlet manifold.

Hi Mike. Again thank you for your info, I can see I am well behind in modern diesels. The more I read the more I can see what a lame brained idea the EGR is.I will catch up with you on the EGR forum again many thanks bill
