Hello all,

I have an early ('93) Cinquecento with the large round fuel filler cap (not the later one hidden behind a flap). This is what it looks like:

Replacements come without a key barrel - it goes in the centre hole in the image above. I need to take it out of my old one and put it in the new one.

Does anyone know how to remove the barrel from the old one in a more elegant way apart from smashing it to bits to extract it?

Thanks in advance! :)

Need to look at the other side of cap, but generally there is a circlip or similar that you remove and then with key in a certain position the barrel should slide out with most makes of vehicle using key barrel.

Hi Bugsymike,

Thanks for the reply! I've found a couple of photos of the reverse. Is there a clip or something similar that might be what is holding it in?

That metal pin is what I was going to suggest also, it may need careful support before trying to tap it out with a pin punch or similar.
However double check with new cap to confirm.
I think it will be quite loose and only held tight when the spring is released. Trouble is you must do the job over a clean tiles floor so when the pin pings out and the spring disappears you can find htem again after a few days of searching.....
