Hi all
The linkage as come adrift on my punto's wiper's, and i need to get at it to do a tempory repair till after xmas.

The problem i'm having in removing the wipers so that i can remove the plastic cover to give me access to the linkage.

I've removed the nuts on both wipers and but the arms will not budge, i've give them a soaking in WD and still no luck. i've spent 15 mins rocking them from side to side with a pulling movement at the same time, still no joy.

Anyone any tips ?
thanks

It is rust/binding on the splines, and you've done the right thing so far. You are going to need a big screwdriver or similar to wedge under the joint. Try a quick rap with a hammer to get underneath and try a twist to 'crack' the binding.
Obviously be careful about twisiting the lever into plastic. And be careful with hammering so close to the windscreen - a sharp load so close to the screen might just initiate a crack. But with care and quite a lot of patience it will come free.

As "HiRich" said, you have so far done the right thing. What you need to do is push down on the arm, it will bend slightly down, this will loosen the wiper. Whilst pushing the wiper arm down, rotate it and it will come off. It done my head in too as I had to change the whole unit last week!

If you want a cheap genuine replacement wiper unit try zombie-cars on E-Bay. I got 1 for my mk2 for £48 & freeP&P. Came within 2 days & fitted it todayseems to be working a treat.Tried the upgraded linkage arms but they wear out just the same (metal ball socket in a nylon bush).Fiat charge round £130 for same unit.
