My guess, without knowing him at all, is he set his standards too high. I was going to be happy as long as it was better than Back to Earth and it is, by a fair amount. Is it as good as the original? Of course not, it never will be because nothing ever is but it's definitely on the weekly watch list for me.
It's...erm...better than Back to Earth. I just long for the days of seasons 1-6 is all, where they had a low budget and that was part of the charm, where the lines had intelligence behind the wit, where the camera angles were inventive and conveyed the slightly off-kilter view the show had on sci-fi and such and just the overall rehash feel this whole thing has. Yes, it's got its good points but to me it just isn't as good. Sorry.
