Ok I know all about re-maps etc. What they do and expected gains etc.

Now I notice that GSR are offering a remap for the 1.4 16v Engine now for £249.

My question is. Is it worth it?

I am not saying GSR is too expensive. Far fom it. It seems pretty resonable. But obviously with the T-Jet engines people are getting gains or around 30Bhp.

As mine is not a turbo then I will only expect a small gain. But is that small gain worth £249. Will I drive the car and feel it's money well spent or am I better spending the £249 on some other mod's to get more gains or a better feeling when driving afterwards?

I have never remapped a non turbo before so don't know what sort of difference it makes. It's always been turbo diesels where the difference was obvious as soon as I drove the remapped cars.

Advice welcome :)

P.S If useful to know I have a GSR Induction kit fitted just now.

Sorry mate what engine do you have?

I thought you had a 120 T-jet

Nope it's the 1.4 16v

Did think obviously about the 150 T-Jet, then the 120 T-Jet but decided as it was to be my second car and used for work (alot of driving) I was best going with the 1.4 16v as it was good performance and great economically.

But now as usual I get bored and want to start tinkering. If my little brother left his toy cars around long enough I am sure I'd start looking for mods for them  :D

Not worth it I am afraid, but it's always a question for YOU is it worth it. You won't gain much and won't feel it. You feel it in turbocharged cars, as you have huge gains in torque which means you have power in lower rpms. I am afraid you won't get it in NA engine, at least not 1.4. And BTW, you mentioned sth about fuel economy? I wouldn't do it if I were you, too much for too little:tempt: But it's your choice:chin:

Maybe they will allow you one week of testing so you can check it if it's worth $$$ I had this option in Kreator Mocy, Warsaw, Poland.

I thought as much. With me having had my previous Laguna DCi and 407 Hdi remapped and gaining the usual high gains of remapped diesels I'd probably be even more disappointed in the minor gains of a remap on the 1.4l engine.

I may just spend my £250 on some springs and some window tints ;)

I guess you might feel some improvement even in an NA engine. Quite a few with my former car gained 10-20 bhp however this was a car with a 3.2l engine and reputed 250bhp. I'd imagine you'd be looking at minimal gains in the region of 5-6bhp perhaps but the map may improve the overall feel of the car. I'm sure most maps with decent gains just simply turn up the boost on the car and increase the fueling etc to boot.
