Technical Rattle.. buzzing vibration noise

Hi just got my first Punto

Love it but there is an annoying buzzing rattling sound when reving the engine. Thought it was the exhaust but no , in fact the noise can bearly be heard from anywhere outside the car, undr bonnett etc. But when you sit insde with the doors closed it sounds pretty bad. Seem to come from low down in floor well at the front. It sounds like a loose metal plate that resonates at certain frequencies (engine RPM).
Has anyone got any ideas ?

Maybe heat shield? These thin sheets of metal seem to come loose with age and rattle around a bit.

See if you can get it to a garage and ask em to pop it up on ramp then go and have a look. Most garages won't mind so long as they ain't busy.

Gives you the chance to have a proper look around too

If you still have the heat shield on the top of the exhaust manifold it is the most likely suspect. Even if the top is secured with the four screws the bottom two tend to pull through the thin shield and it will rattle and hum at certain engine speeds. Just pop the bonnet.

i've had the front heat shields rattle badly and removed both

The centre one dropped 1 side = Rattle on middle box

Rear one is most secure but even they fail

They make a cheap metalic rattle, its horrible
