Hello again!

This morning the Ragazzon backbox was delivered so I sneaked out from work to get it installed on the 500.. Fitting was straightforward but the hangers are a tight fit, they did eventually go in.. And since I ordered twin (left and right) exits, there was some fabrication to do as regards the UK driver side exit..

As promised, have got a video:

Rushed the videos and photos.. Had too long a lunch break already :devil:

Sounds good.

killahboo i think it is a 1.4

Yep it's a 1.4 100hp, loosened up and raped by me daily :yuck::yuck:

Does any of you think the exhaust note is a bit raspy? It became raspy after installing the Supersprint middle section exhaust pipe, which effectively just deletes the resonator :cry:

Well I was looking for a backbox for my punto, but to no avail, all of the descriptions seem to say they give the deep down sporty sound, which in my mind is the "BORRRRRRRRRRRRRR" boy racer sound.
Where did you get this backbox from may I ask?

Thanks for posting that jeffery. Would love to 'hear' the exhaust noise possibly outside in the daylight. Noticed your temperature at 34 deg - it's hot over there.

On another note, sometimes, just sometimes, the car is really sluggish as if I've only gone halfway with the throttle when in fact I've floored it.. Having driven the car so much I know how it should pull in most situations and sometimes it just refuses to!! Really bugging me this.. Any ideas at all?

This is a link to a guy who put on a Supersprint manifold - he's experienced no sluggishness. Not very politically correct but the 1.4 engine has no problem being revved. Just exercise caution.

Why not? Bad service?

Well, not bad service in the sense that they are rude or anything. They've always been adequately polite.

Thing is though they tend to "forget" to reply to your emails or claims that the email has been "lost" and make up all kinds of fancy excuses to delay the delivery of your goods. You have to put pressure on them. I did this by filing a dispute with PayPal. :D:D

Not a problem mate. I intended to take a better video before work this morning but it's pouring over here. Forecast says it would be pouring for the rest of the week so I believe it's best to wait (or I can do another one in a brighter car park). After some spirited driving the exhaust has loosened up a bit I believe as the exhaust note is much much deeper and louder (not too loud) compared to the video..

I believe I would be demanding a refund for my Supersprint manifold from Gazzella as they have yet to deliver. I shall then look to see where to buy from!! :D:D

Checking Supersprint's web site on prices the sports cat is €938 .
If you don't purchase the Sports cat to go with the manifold there's a 'workaround' on here.

The LAD Motorsport used the Janspeed and that works out a good deal cheaper with the manifold at £186 and the sports cat at £240. I heard its 50/50 if the CAT light comes on put at least it's legal.

If you decide not to go with the Manifold upgrade you could remove the centre silcencer (there's 2 on the 1.4 but only on on the 1.2) you could replace with this. If will give more noise, unsure about extra performance but you might have a problem with noise regs.

Hey there mate. I think I have that already save that mine is a Supersprint one.. Exhaust became a little raspy though on lift off :(:(

Just read that link you posted about the manifold.. Wrapping the 2nd lambda with tin foil? Wouldn't it just fly off? Do you know anything about this? :worship::worship:

Sounds like you have plenty of noise just with the new back box. :)

you on stand alone ECU though kev? some people say using the 2 holes on the ss pipe with oem management systen chucks up the error light, some just put the pre cat lambda in and wrap the second in tin foil and that seems to put light out. i moved both of mine so they read from all 4 pots an not just 1
I take it that this is only an interim measure until you source the sports cat. Hopefully dave will come here and give some background.

Great, thanks.

Gazzella called me today, refunded my money for the Supersprint, but I did agree to buy it from them once they confirm they are in stock. :D

Did you enquire about a Sports cat and if the Supersprint one was too expensive did they offer any alternatives e.g. the Janspeed one or somethng similiar to avoid all that messing with the 'tin foil' ?
My understanding of the ECU in the 500 is that it's quite clever in that it can adapt to different 'conditions' and should 'fuel' correctly with very modest modifications. The most you can expect from a full Supersprint exhaust setup is around 6 bhp which is dissapointing and hence the reason why some track guys use a decat pipe in place of the sports cat but only for track days. One of 'plus factors' of the 1.4 engine is that it has the lowest Nitrous Oxide 'emissions' in the 500 range.

I have developed an exhaust that will sound pretty much like that.

I posted a question on a different thread re a spring that would bypass the back exhaust box.
Since the 1.4 has 2 silencers - one in the middle and one at the end some have replaced the middle silencer with a straight through pipe and according to one member on here it it have the impression of being more free flowing.
What would be involved in bypassing the back box like in the Monza on the exhausts that you have developed ?
Understand that with a turbo charged car there is a lesser need for silencing but there should be some leeway in the NA for a few extra decibels.
