General Radio scanning problem

Hi, I have a problem with the factory fitted CD/radio in my Stilo 1.8. When I turn the radio on, it scans through all the frequencies and only stops when you push a button - any button. It then sticks at that frequency (whether there is a station or not) and then none of the buttons will work. I can't select a programmed frequency, or change to CD input, change bands etc, absolutely nothing will work. The only thing I can do is switch the thing off, and when I switch it back on, we go through the same process again.:bang:
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? One day it was fine then the next this, the aerial seems fine as if you do manage to stop it at a broadcasted station the reception is fine.
I've searched the forums but not seen anyone else with the same problem. I saw the advice on how to remove your radio but if I did that I still wouldn't know what to do next!

if it's software related you might get away with a reset.. simplest way is to just disconnect the battery for an hour if that don't help then it is also likelly that you've gotten yourself a stuck key or faulty radio.. for a) get it out and take it apart (to clean everything up etc) for b) you'll need a new radio (if resources are low - you can get a tape one really cheap on fleabay)

Thanks for the advice, I tried disconnecting the battery, it reset the clock etc but the the radio is still kaput. Its going in for its service next week so perhaps the Fiat dealers can fix it.... hopefully not too costly though!

Am sorry to hear that the simplest solution didn't work for you.. you could try entering the diagnostic mode and resetting from there.. but i'd be guessing that your skip key is stuck.. Unfortunately, dealer service is unlikely to be cheap.. get a quote first.. then decide what to do (it might be cheaper to get a second hand unit than recon your existing one).

The first thing that came in my mind... Try gently hitting it or press/release it several times.

isnt the + key the same function as fast forward on tape (or CD)? if so is there problems on other sources?
