Hey folks,

I think my radiator has developed a leak on the bottom right side (as you look at the engine) on my punto HGT. I’d like to replace it myself if possible.

How difficult is it to remove the radiator? Does the air con rad need to be removed also?

Thanks!

you can remove the water radiator and leave the A/C one in place. I have the 16V car. It is a bit fiddly to remove the black plastic radiator shroud which contains the fan until you can see how the radiators have to be lifted off the shroud first. I think the shroud is all that supports the weight of the AC radiator . You cannot easily see the part of the shroud that is going under the water radiator to support the AC radiator. The shroud is part of the way the radiators are connected as a solid assembly to the car.

Hi folks!! I wish a good weekend to all!

I am about to replace the water radiator on a Punto MK2b with A/C.

Can anyone who has done this before, confirm that i can remove the radiator without remove the A/C condenser or the bumper?

As i can understand i have to remove the fan with its casing and then i can remove the water radiator only. Im i right?

If there are any pics or vid from anyone as guide, i would be thankful.

Thanks in advance!

It is fairly easy to do it when you know what you are doing. The shroud which goes under the water radiator to the AC radiator fixes the AC radiator to the water radiator. The water radiator is then held at the bottom metal frame with push fit lugs, and screwed to the top frame with one bolt- The water radiator is supported by the metal beam under the shroud, and then the water radiator supports the shroud with all those screws at the sides. You remove the top two screws holding the two plastic brackets that restrain the ac radiator. You need a small socket set ideally. The screws are just screwing into the plastic shroud so you dont want to break lt. The AC radiator is then free to come up sufficiently by lifting slightly so it can come off the pieces on the shroud which go under the water radiator. The water radiator is firmly held by a rubber bung at one end fixed into the metal beam and more lightly at the other end. you have to pull up strongly to free it. it can be jammed in so you have lever against the frame from below. Once both radiators are lifted a few cm you can get the shroud to pass backwards towards the engine and remove it. Best to tie the radiators to the top frame trather than stress the various parts - you dont want to break the shroud.

Thanks a lot! I think this setup is on HGT. On 1.4 16V the condenser holds on the water radiator. Anyway, i will go on and hope for the best!!
