Helo all,

Below is a picture of which I assume is the radiator bleed valve (do shed light if i'm wrong), noticed today a small about of leakage under my car (500 1.2) after looking i found the source of the leak was from here.

The plastic screw (which yet again i assume) releases pressure seemed to had corroded/snapped due to the heat of the water, the thread is still in the valve but is not forming a perfect seal.

As a temporary fix I'm going to aladite the head of the screw back on for now.

My main question is though, replacement part? Can I buy just the screw, or the valve itself or is it a full pipe job? I might even kiss you if you have a part no#.

Any help is much appreciated. :)

Those plastic bleed screws are a nightmare. Easy to snap if you overtighten them, and prone to ageing & heat stress, which makes them even easier to snap.

I had one go many years ago on a Renault 5, and rather than paying the exorbitant price demanded for a replacement hose, just replaced it with a suitably-sized steel bolt & an 'O' ring I happened to have lying around. Was still working just fine when I sold that car, during which time it had held up for at least 200,000 miles.

I haven't (yet) examined the FIAT hose in detail, but if this is possible, it's an effective, cheap and permanent solution.

had my one go last year, luckily was still under warranty sealed it with fernox plumbing gel which they use on heating systems till they could book it in they replaced the whole pipe unit but my fix seemed to work might be a bit cheaper than replacing hope this helps

Thanks guys the temporary fix seems to withstand it, called up my local fiat, I was quite surprises that a new complete hose with bleed is only £26 so just have to keep an eye on my temp till the weekend.
