General Punto Info Please

Good evening

New here, and can't find the answer to my question, (which will be an easy answer)

Looking at getting a punt 1.2 active sport for my daughter to learn to drive etc.
after buying it i want to service it before hand, but when looking at parts it gives me the option: 188 or 188ax

This means nothing to me

for service parts be aware theres 2 types of spark plugs and 3 possible different oil filters
its imperative the oil filter you replace is exactly the same size as the one you take off

Yup 3 oil filters which i can guarentee ull always get wrong one without measuring...

As for sparkies - i only use ngk, which is what fiat used mostly and champion from time to time

Cam cover and coil pack seals do leak easily - cheap seals to replace too!! Easy diy tas

Airfilter box screws can be bitches from.time to time if over tightened

I literally wacking in
Fiat Punto 188AX

And it starts listing the VAN options, As there was a Van version of the punto
Very basic - since buisness's didnt care about there staff sorta setup

1.9 mk2 or 1.3 diesels for the mk2b
Basic no c/l or E/w, just power steering a seat and an engine basically

So the AX is a van
The 188 (99-03) is mk2
The 188 (03 - 06) is mk2b (UK)
The punto did run till 2010 in some countries tho

So when I look for parts I choose 188 and not 188ax which is the van

I find the http://www.bosch-automotive-catalog.com/en a good resource for finding the right parts ( I use it for our Astra and Punto), or at least pointing you in the right direction.

I'm in the process of getting service parts for my 1.2 8V MK2B and it is indeed a minefield. There looks to be 2 filters for the MK2B and I don't know which to get until I crawl under the car and measure it.
Spark plugs...yup there are 2, depends on the engine number.
If you need to change the cambelt, there are 2 different ones there too, again engine number dependent.

Just a quick thought. You said the AX are for vans.
I've just check the info plate under bonnet and it says version 188axa1a
