Well lads hope im writing in the right place anyway i gave my girlfriend my old punto and im getting it ready for the nct which would be the same as the MOT in england but theres 2 electrical lighting faults with it first is that the interior light doesnt work unless the indicators on and then it flashes with the indicator and second is that my left tail light flashes slightly when the indicator is on! Any help would be greatly appreciated as not too used to working on fiats!

Welcome! (y)

Usual suspects are earths; and the tail-light fault is a dead giveaway that the terminals inside that light cluster probably need a very good clean (so the pins shine...). It's also worth -- whilst you've got the thing off -- to clean all the crud out, that's accumulated behind it. (y)

The interior light thing may be related; or it could be another earth fault or short-circuit. You will need wiser brains than mine for that one -- but cleaning up the rear light clusters should keep you busy for a few minutes.... :D

:yeahthat: The plugs at the rear light clusters are the most likely suspects particularly the black earth wire. A good clean and a spray of contact cleaner generally works wonders - wd40 can be used instead but it's not as good. I can't figure how the interior light is being affected but chances are sorting the rear plugs will fix it. While you're in a cleaning mood have a go at any other plugs you can find.
Have a look at the bump stops inside the rear springs. After years of rattling around in there the nct guys went after them in a big way last year. Dealers couldn't keep up with the demand for a bit. Good news they were only about €20 for the pair.

Bsi? :S cheers lads will try that soon as i get it back from the garage think a bearing is gone down in/near the gearbox somewhere as the oil seal was gone and got a clutch n all put it but they didnt fix the seal until after (money hungry) hopefuly it cleaning up the contacts fixes the interior light aswell but whats a Bsi?

The interior light has 2 wires

1 is a constant earth - EP6
The other 2 are connected to the Multi-function unit

Also according to Autodata tho the rear lights also earth via Ep6

Alot seems to be done via EP6, which is in the boot on the left hand side

Something tells me, this is related

My tackle to this?

Get the Rear lights off
Clean all bulb connections, and bulb contacts
Clean the multi-plug
Then hop into the boot and clean the earthing point there

I'd be inclined to check for damaged / broken wires near it too!

ziggy

just to add to this the top of this unplugs and reveals spade terminals,
they can go green in there,

theres two prongs you press in and plastic top unplugs,

oldhammer not too sure as havent got the the car atm and wont have it back until the 16th now :Z nct is being reinbursed by the garage though as they let me down on having a part so alls good on that front!

Lads really appreciate the help! Well when i get the car now going to go straight into doing the bulb connection/contacts and the multi plug then have that earth contact in the boot gleaming!! Just wish i had the car now so i could do it haha its always the way had it sitting outside for months never thought of it then the minute it goes to a garage i start looking what to do!
