Hey this is my first post in here so sorry for any missing information.

I've got a ducato 2003 diesel 2.8
Yesterday the engine wouldn't turn off even when the key was out of the ignition. Is this a problem with the fuel pump relay and if yes how can I locate it to diagnosed it ? If not , what could it be ?
Thank you

If Your engine has a distributor type injection pump with a stop solenoid - check that when ignition off there is no 12v at the stop solenoid and when ignition on there is 12v at the stop solenoid.

If injection is common rail - tell us

If the engine is of 2003 manufacture, and 2.8 L, as stated then it will be an x244 2.8 JTD, with electronically controlled injection.

Do not rush to blame the humble relay, it is rarely the cause. However it is easily checked by substiution. For this you could borrow a matching relay from a cab fusebox.

The fuel pump relay only controls the fuel lift pump in the fuel tank.

The main injection relay is one that should be controlled by the ignition switch. This relay controls the ECU, and hence the injection of fuel.

Possible causes should include the ignition switch, and if there is any history of water ingress (including engine washing) in the engine bay then internal corrosion in the engine bay fusebox is possible. With regard to this latter possibility @Davren recently published a link to a Fiat engine bay fusebox clean up on a Fiat Stilo. Not for the faint hearted, but here is a link.

I am also attaching my own annoted copy of eLearn diagram E5050/1, which shows the Main Injection Relay, and its location in the engine bay fusebox.

For the benefit of others, please post the actual cause.
