Today when I was driving my fiat punto- after 10 miles the power steering stopped working. There were no lights to show any error message just on my dash board I can read as check power steering. So I parked my car to the road side but when I restarted it (power steering) started working again with no issues (I again drove 5 miles but no issues then) do I need to consult mechanic ? Please suggest

You have put this in the Fiat 124 Spider classic section.;)
However there are many things that can effect your electronic power steering including battery voltage, earth straps etc.
Also even with no error code light on, it may be the computer has stored an error code so it may be an idea to have the codes read with a suitable diagnostic tool as a guide.

Pretty common fault on Fiats with electric power steering.

My 2004 Panda does this very occasionally , usually just after setting off (I give the battery time to recover, steering draws a lot of current).

I would charge up the battery, clean the negative battery post and earth strap terminals.

If it persists, this thread may help:
