Hi,
As much as it pains me to talk about a french scooter on a forum like this, I am unable to find what I need anywhere else.

My brother has a Peugeot Sum-up 125CC Scooter. Very low on oil, so was going to do an oil change. Can't seem to find an oil filter for the bike. Not one included in the "Service Kits" for it.

Wondering whether it actually has one ? Or if its simply a case of draining the old, and filling the new.

Cheers.

Cheers. Had come across that site before. After some searching, it uses a GY6 engine, due it to being built in china. So it has a gauze filter which sits on a spring above the main drain plug.

Already had to order a new fan casing, couple panels. He doesn't know how to look after things. lol.

It does make a knocking noise, like the fan is catching on something. Doesn't do it constantly, its on and off. So will need to have a look at that.

The horn wire was cut, so going to patch that up with some wire and connectors.

He needs to get it serviced, but I want a play with it. He was too lazy to take it back to the place he got it from and get these faults repaired for free under the warranty. So know he has to pay for it all.

Also, the electric start has a tendancy to cut the electrics out. You have to bang the dash to get them to cut back in again. Any idea what may cause this ?

Abuse & zero servicing is why used scoots are so cheap. All you can do is open up the cases and look for loose connectors. BTW was the horn wire cut because the horn jammed ON?

Yeah, true. Starting to see that now. Although his is only an '09, and had one mature owner.

Possiblity it jammed. Have a new horn switch in the post just incase. Likewise with the ignition. Needed to buy some parts so to save on P&P bought anything likely to go bad / need replacing.

Servicing it seems fairly straight forward. Easy to access all of it. Just need to find out where the spark plug is, as it takes a while to start sometimes. So definitely going to replace that.

With the horn, was going to get some suitably amp'd wire, and a blunt connector and connect them back up. See what happens. If it's the button, will just replace it. If it's the horn, then they're £10 on eBay. Just want to get it working. Wouldn't want to be on a bike without a horn.

Alright, so changed the oil yesterday, which was very simple. Almost put it into the carb, before we read the haynes guide. Which would have been horrendous.

But now, it's not going above 20mph. It was idling at 4k RPM after putting the carb top back on. And this was causing the wheels to spin when still. Which was a pain.

Found the idle control, and lowered it so it now sites comfortably at 2K. Howver it wont go above 20mph or around 5K RPM. Any idea why this may happen.

We hadn't touched the idle before looking at the carb. It was only after it was idling that high. So would lowering the idle have caused it to limit the speed / revs ?

Going to get it booked in for a service at a bike shop, and see what they can find out.

A fast idle is often caused by an inlet manifold air leak, Adjusting the carb mixture hides the problem until you find its all wrong where you need it.

Sort out the air leak and it will probably be ok.
