I woundered if owners of the new Punto ie. 1999 onwards, could offer me some advice concerning the handling of this car.

Today, I took test drive in a 1.2 Punto and found the steering to be extremely heavy even though the vehicle comes with PAS. Can I ask other owners to tell me whether in your expereince, you would say the steering on the new Puntos' are generally heavier than other similar hatchbacks, ie. Ford Fiesta, Citreon Saxo, Renault Clio, etc...

We have booked another test drive in the event that the dealer will rectify any problems with the PAS, but someone I asked told me this is a characteristic of this car.

Opinions kindly appreciated,

Mark

Has your Punto got the "girlie button":I to give light steering for parking??

"Equipment All Puntos come with power steering and the useful Dualdrive system, which allows the steering to be lightened for parking and low speed city driving. "

Not sure if this applies to your model or not...

Thanks for the reply, but I have since driven several other MK2 Puntos' and have found the steering in all cases to be much lighter, even without the girlie 'City' button which comes with every model I have test driven.

I told the garage where to go, relating to having another test drive of the first punto I tried which had heavy steering and am now scouting around for a good deal on some other Punto.
