Took my Panda out yesterday (on private land of course) to see what top speed it would do as i have fitted the cinq sporting engine to it, i was quite suprised when it reached 100mph and was still creeping up!
Thats what my GPS (both sat nav, and speed cam locator (needed at that speed lol)) read out at 100MPH. I've found out that most (all of our 3) panda's over read by 10% which isn't dissimilar to other cars.
But if they over read on speed does this mean they clock up over 10% more miles than traveled?!? If so it means my 750L has done only 101610 miles and not 112900 as its reading - opps!
And I don't know how u got that speed. LOL. Only managed 85MPH outa our 750L (4 Speed), but at time did think I could get more but didn't have the heart!
Mine runs at 100C at that sort of speed, but put it down to the fact its and auto with hydraulics to run etc, the other two panda's run at about 70-80C.
The 750cc should run at 87°C according to Fiat. Mine always stays between 85°C and 90°C during any normal driving conditions. (I'm also running a genuine brand new Fiat thermostat (also stamped with 87°C)) My fan switches on in traffic at 92-93°C. During very high speed runs or extended periods of hill climbing I have seen the temp touch as high as 100°C.
70°C is too cool for any petrol engine.
My old panda 1000S used to do an indicated 100 on the flat... drove it flat out for 2 years with a commute of 45 miles each way down the A45 (as it was) always got 40+ mpg too.. did all my own servicing and set up (garage couldnt ge the timing right:bang
the Cinq Sporting was quicker acceleration though... and better handling and better brakes....
Oh.. had the needle down over the "H" in MPH once... off the top of "Slack hill" in Derbyshire......
