Indicator problem on Panda 45 CL (1985)

The right hand indicator works fine, but there is a problem with the left side. You flick the stalk and it flashes only once but carries on 'ticking' without flashing.

Any ideas?

That's odd.

Indicators are designed to "flash" at the wrong rate if a bulb is not working:
that and the speed of the clicking is meant to let you know there is a problem.
It is the same flasher unit for both sides - it's switched to either the left or right circuit by the indicator stalk switch,

If you'd said that, say, a back lamp was on almost continuously, and the corresponding front lamp was off, but the front bulb was OK - I'd suggest a look at the earth block on the inner wing, behind the passenger headlight.

Anyway, have a look around the car and let us know what is happening with the (3) indicator bulbs on each side of the car, and also if all the other lights behave normally - including brake lights, whilst indicating left, and then right...

We should be able to sort it out.

I confirm the diagnosis of a bad earth...had a similar problem on my Renault 5[xx(]...it was a rusted connector on the rear lights!

When the nearside front indicator bulb went on my Panda, The headlamp on that side flashed instead!

New bulb solved the problem though.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

Unfortunately my fault report was wrong (didn't look properly)[)] and the rear indicator and side repeater were working, but instead of the front, the sidelight was flashing instead (didn't notice in the daylight:(.) As the indicator and sidelight share a connecting block, a thorough clean of the 'green' terminals has rectified the problem.

Many thanks fellas.
