General Panda 55? anyone heard

I´ll try but the engine is seized i think(it won´t turn over with a wrench on the crankshaft with plugs removed):(

If you have any questions don´t be afraid, ask away. I´ll be glad to help.

I´ll try to get the VIN later on when i get the car and post it:p. unless it was a LEGAL engine swap which i will be a bit disappointed at.[:(!]

Yep i forgot to update this thread, the engine was a 1.1 which was replaced by the dealer with the 1.3(source unknown) before the car was sold, it was all written in the service book. The service book is so detailed it actually says when bulbs were replaced and plugs cleaned[:0]. Just curious, where did you find the info? I tried and couldn´t find any mention of such a model. Thanx

BTW it was not the selecta though, it was a 5spd originally, selecta was the 50L:p

No that doesn't fit. If it it did my Y10 would have a 1.3 Delta engine in it by now.

It must be the 1301CC Brasilian Fiat Palio Engine.

Fix It Again Tony!
Would swap for X19, Montecarlo Spider or GT.i.e in average/poor condition! Scottish based would be nice.

Yep the engine is a 1301cc out of a Panda(block number was crossreferenced) somewhere around here. Everything else checks out fine(papers and what´s actually in).

The engine in the car is a petrol 1.3 not diesel(it´s got spark plugs):). I´ve now disassembled the engine, it seems fine and the crankshaft turns easily with the head removed. I´m going to reassemble it tomorrow(today for me) and check if it will start:D. The engine bay does look real cramped with all the parts in it, even the spare doesn´t go in the engine bay but under the car behind the gas tank[:0]. I´ll keep you posted and i´ll also check the number to post up:D.

The engine has been reassembled, changed a lot of things that had failed with age. After doing basic maintenance and installing it back in the car it started after a couple of minutes of cranking, it made a lot of smoke from the engine bay for over 30 minutes. We are now changing the wheel bearings to go try out the car:D.
Parts replaced were(Out of normal maintenance)

-Piston rings were stuck(replaced and cylinder honed)
-valvetrain was redone(head was exchanged)
-clutch was replaced to be safe

I was told this was the the same engine as in the turbo, anyone know if it´s true?

No - turbo is 1049 CC.

Though I am sure that the 1301 CC engined Y10 has the spare wheel at the front in the usual place.

If this is a custom job maybe it's the 1300 engine from the X19/ Ritmo after all. Hence the lack of space.

Does the car have four or five gears? Are the engine mounts custom?

The Y10 Turbo engine on 1049 cc, is the same base as the 127 Sport mk.3 / Duna 1300. Its a 1301 cc, with 70 or 75 hp, and is the same size as the 1049 cc, and will fit right in the Panda

The 1301cc is the same engine as the 1116cc in the Uno, engine mounts are in the same place or faily close. The transmission is a 5spd and apart from a lifting lug on the top looks similiar to a panda tranny. I don´t know about horsepower figures but after driving it today i can say it can´t be compared to my 1000cl it pulls much higher into the revs:D. I´ve been told by the previous owner the engine was originally fitted with Bosh LE2 Jetronic Multi-point fuel injection(MPI) and was modified to Bosh L3.2 Jetronic Multi-point fuel injection(MPI)when installed into this Panda(engine was brand new)using parts off another engine(Parts were off a 1372cc turbo engine). I´ve also uncovered that the 1301cc turbo version was only available for a short period of time hence no one knows about it;) there was never a non turbo version so this one is unique.

I just found out the engine is the same found in the Uno 70 not 70s(thats the 1372cc) at least the 1988 Uno turbo had a 1301cc i just have a new friend with one:D. He found the turbo panda at the track today and got interested;).

The panda 55 (1108cc) was sold in the Netherlands from 2001 till 2003. It's exactly the same engine as fitted in the punto 55. The panda 55 was also equipped with a 5 speed manual gearbox.

Specs:
Compression ratio: 9,6:1
Max. power: 40 kW (54 bhp) @ 5000tpm
Max. torque: 88 Nm @ 2750tpm
Fuelsystem: multipoint injection

You are right but as i´ve discovered it´s actually a custom job that´s in my 55 and not the original 1108cc like it was supposed to be. I noticed it was a 1.1L when we cross-referenced the VIN number.:Dthanx anyway

I find it odd someone would tear apart such a rare model and slap in something barely bigger even if it does make way more power.
