I want to do an engine conversion on my Cinq.Fit in a Punto 60 1242.

Ive found the Panda 1.1 is a FIRE Engine- it shares a gearbox with a Punto, Cinq Sporting and Sei...The 1.2 is also a FIRE Unit- so is a bolt for bolt swap.

My Cinq is a 900cc model though, so it'll be a bit more complicated. I will need a new ECU in order to run a 1242- as my 899 will not do this- I need a 1.1 ECU at least (Cracker reports the 1.2 runs fine on a 1.1 ECU).

ECU's are a bit hit and miss...most Puntos are immobilised by coding in the ECU, The ECU in Panda's and my Cinq is not coded like this...

To do this convo' successfully, I will need a 1108 FIRE Panda ECU, but I'm finding these cars VERY Hard to find...ideas where I could find one...I could also use the gearbox amongst most other bits!!

Ill think of something witty....just wait and see............wait I might not.

AFAIK

The UK specification* manual gearbox FIRE engined Pandas were all 999.

The ECVT auto ones were 1108 (was there an auto Sporting?).

I'd be inclined to agree with the post above: you're starting from the wrong place.

John H

* the ones they were selling a year or so ago in Europe had the 1108 MPI lump as in late SEIs, and the C532(numbers wrong??) gearbox too.

Im fairly sure there was an 1108 FIRE Engined Panda in the UK...

Look:

Panda 1.1 litre (93-96) Marelli-Weber 6F SPi 6F.SK, 61602.044.01
Panda 1.1 litre 4 x 4, (93-95) Marelli-Weber 6F SPi 6F.SM, 61202.045.01

Got from http://www.atpelectronics.co.uk/Catalogue/Fiat.htm. But yes I agree, Im beginning to think I am starting in the wrong place, but its not exactly impossible, just really f'ing difficult!!

You're right, there was, but as John H commented, they were CVT automatics.

The latest Panda sold here were all 1.108cc Mpi engined, with manual or automatic g.box...two trims called Young and Hobby...the second one is the most rich:auto door lock and electrical glass lifters;) plus bars on the roof!

Bugger. Thought the 1108 was a SPi FIRE Unit. Guess not.

Mmm...it got the Mpi system to meet the Euro3 requirements, as the Spi can't provide a so precise a/f ratioB)!But the declared horsepower is the same:54Bhp/40Kw.
