Technical o2 sensor curcuit shorted to heater circuit bank 1

Hi all, my 2012 2.3 fiat based motorhome has shown the fault code as in the title, the garage found the o2 sensor had rubbed through due to not been secured properly and rubbed through so we though bingo but with a new sensor the error code clears for a few minutes before reappearing where as before it would not reset at all, long shot but has anyone had this specific fault and if so what was the cure?
