…It isn’t really, I’ve bitten the bullet and bought a microsoft (spit) laptop…now my dilemma is, Amateur or Pro
The vehicles we personally have, that are covered by MES are:
Jeep Renegade 2016 wife’s
Panda Cross TA 2019 mine
Panda Cross MJ 2010 wife’s
Panda Cross MJ 2009 daughters
Alfa Mito 1.4 2014 brothers
I also have mates with Fiat and Fiat based vehicles (don’t tell em your name Pike 😉)
So, do I spend £129 for Enthusiast with all the leads (possibly the SGS lead although many think the panda cross didn’t get the security gateway), or spend nearly three times as much for the Pro £360

Come on you lot, I’ve relented with the microsoft, just wanted a quick opinion…

Well,

The licence is 50 euro.. So @£43

Good leads are probably less than £50

You want to look at the Supported Vehicle list,

KKL and ELM 327 are the car plug in cables,

The coloured adaptors are for MES and tend to come in a bundle

You probably won't want more

Are you buying from Gendan's stock..?

Not sure here what you mean. I have a kit from Gendan. Carry case, a VAG lead (not sure what for it seems to The mai red lead and a set of adapters sofware on a stick . I like to have something tangible if unecessary. Whats the difference. I was aware that you can get extended software covering more vehicles but felt it unnecessary. I have onlyneeded to check on a few things and do servicing with my standard version. It seems to do all that may be required. Its a bit patchy in that not all teh engine numbers are sepcifically covered, but when I queried this I was told just use the nearest one to yours and it will work. It does so Ive stopped worrying. What are the differences you are awareof?

The leads are as varesacrazy says and I agree with his comments Ive never used the KKL Ive had my kit for maybe 5 years now and the whole package was c£125.

Like computer things you have to let it build its picture. Start the computer with the 327 lead plugged in so the computer sees it, then switch on the software, then plug the car in then turn the ignition on. Sometimes out of sequence can mean it doesnt all connect.

Ring Gendan and chat it through. They are mega helpful.

Yes it’s off the Gendan website, there doesn’t look much in it between £130 and £360, so for the sake of four leads instead of one, I can’t really see the difference, except convenience, for an extra £230
I’ll get the missus to print the coverage off and can then compare and tick off the differences…but knowing me, cheap, I’ll go for the bells and whistles to cover every angle regardless of whether I need it…I was just hoping someone would have tried both and persuaded me to go cheap 😉

I have not looked that deep

Owned my kit around 12 years,

Bought leads off ebay, from better UK Sellers 🙄

ELM of KKL is a historical thing

Had to use a "random selection" on a Multipla ABS fault last summer

But with 500x based vehicles it's probably a little more straightforward 🙂
