Hi

I've got an Idea 1.4 Active and my horn has stopped working.

This has happened before. Shortly after I collected the car from the dealer I bought it from, I realised the horn wasn't working. I took it back and they told me the horn was full of water and they emptied it out. Hey presto the horn worked again!

It seems likely the same thing has happened again.

So, does anyone know where the horn itself is located on an Idea?

Is it easy enough to remove and drain?

Any help would be much appreciated - I miss my horn, it's essential for the Italian way of driving :)

Cheers

Simon

near side (passenger) infront of the wheel, easier to access if car up on ramp. I have came across this problem before & re-position the horn to prevent any further water ingress.

Welcome to FF:)

Hey - thanks very much - what a swift reply! (y)

That's a strange place to put it (or maybe not!)

Sounds like it might be near impossible to access without being on a ramp.

Does it look like, well, an obviously horn-shaped thing  or is the horn itself actually inside some sort of casing (although I guess possibly not if it's full of water!)?

I'm trying to weigh up the merits of having a go myself or paying a garage :)devil:) to do it (car is now out of warranty).

I have accessed them on the ground but obviously easier on ramp, when on ground (from memory) I also accessed it via n/s wheel arch. The horn is mounted on a short bar, the nut that holds it to this bar I loosened the rotated the horn so the 'outlet' was away from the ground thus less likely to have water sprayed into it.

Swift reply? this is the best Fiat forum on the internet what did you expect;)

I had the same problem and it just turned out the fuse wasn't seated properly in the fuse box!

Thanks SMT - I eventually chickened out and took the car to a garage. Just too difficult to access the horn without a ramp and, as it turned out, I needed a new Lambda sensor (ouch! :() so needed to visit a garage anyway. I needed a new horn (apparently!).

Before I went to get it fixed I did check and swap the fuse though, just in case and it definitely wasn't the problem.

The new horn sounds just as camp as the old one! :D
