Hi All,
I just joined yesterday. I have a 1971 BS 1 spider with a 1608 motor, crane cams fireball XR700 ignition, electric fuel pump and Ansa exhaust. The car has 58k miles but has sat twice for 20 year periods. It runs, shifts and stops. I'm in the process of making is roadworthy. I replaced the gembo, drive shaft center bearing, and Ujoints. I'm replacing the front differential seal and will soon be refilling the differential fluid. I have many new rubber brake lines, hoses, fuses, brown line wire, headlight relay kit conversion, new air horn kit, etc... to work through. The steering is really stiff and groans. I believe that I may need to work on the Idler and/ or the steering box.
One question. What is the proper Differential oil to use in the rear end? (GL1-GL5, EP vs non EP). I see no clear answer in searching the threads.
