My 225 45 WR 17 Bridgestone Potenza 050's are nearly to the markers on the fronts after 16,000 miles. Can anyone suggest a tyre to replace them - I've been happy with these tyres, but was hoping for a little more life out of them, especially as the pair of fronts will cost £196.00. Are the continentals any better? Is it worth paying the extra for Michelin as they are supposed to wear well?

My Continentals are just about due replacement too. I have only got about 18,000 miles out of them. They should be ok for another 1,000 miles so should have managed about 19,000 miles out of them when I change them which to be honest I am more than happy with.

My ford focus tdci i had a few cars back had michelins on and I got 36000 out of a set on it

Totally depends on the driving you do. motorway miles will eat up a lot less tyre than a twisty country road or about town driving.

I got 30k+ miles off a set of tyres on a Laguna I had because I done a lot of motorway miles

But this time around I've done a lot of town and country road driving so at 19k I am happy (y)

On my Megane they fitted Michelin Primacy(I think that's right) at the factory. I had to change the front 2 after a bad puncture in one ( I like to balance new tyres in pairs) at about 26000 miles but the rears I have only just replaced at 76000 miles. Majority of these were motorway munching but still astonishing wear . they were still legal when I replaced them and must have had at least another 17 or so miles of tread left on them.
Didn't replace with the same however as I have now given the car to the wife and it will only do about 6 or 7 thousand miles a year from now on.

I've got my tjet sport to play with ...muhahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Still in a bit of a state of mpg shock, my megane averaged 65mpg (1.5 dci) and I haven't managed to lift my right foot in the Bravo yet so haven't hit 30 average yet. Maybe in a few weeks I will see what it can do.

Can't say I'd want to be on worn tyres in this weather!

In the wet and the dry - Goodyear Eagle F1s. Nothing comes close. In winter - you don't want to be on them. ;) Cost me £200 for the pair. Grip in dry is excellent road noise is quite acceptable. They're great in the wet too. The deep V really works well to move the water off the tyre.

My 150 multijet got 16,000 miles on the front Conties so nothing in it really between them and your Bridgestones. I will however suggest you move your part worn bridgestones from the rear to the front - and put the fresh rubber on the back. Depending how the fronts have worn - can be worth having the tracking checked.

In this weather? What do you mean, it's sunny and warm in Devon...

Never really been a fan of goodyear, had a few different goodyears on previous cars and strruggled to get 8,000 miles out of them! Dunlop too...

I just can't figure if it's worth the extra for michelin - although the replies here seem to say it is! Primacy's for the sport come out at £213 for the pair...

well our tyres have loads on em but they'll get replaced by
Toyo Proxes T1-R 225/45 R17 Y

well when it comes to tires im not really that good but the tyres i have on are michelins and currently done 12000 miles still going bar one which was slashed by someone, which was replaced by ow god im going to say it please dont laugh :bang:kwick fit :yuck:eek:wn make. excellent looking car just for one tyre to make it look naff:slayer: excellent..

when i was doing motorway driving in other cars was getting 10k more out of a tyre than when i switched to normal roads. as i went to a lot of roundabouts my front passenger tyre always wore the fastest.

my bravp fronts are a bit worn, but not near markers but im going similar driving still so dont expect to get more than 8k out of the fronts. never did on the stilo on the same routes
