New Lancia Delta.

Hello,

I first saw this car in the film Angels and Demons so I thought I would do a bit digging. What a beautiful car. I like it a lot. I wish Lancia would come back to the UK.

I saw it at the classic and sports car show, I thought it was great. Maybe a bit bulky perhaps but good looking with loads of nice detailing. The tail lights for example that Jag have stolen for the new XJ for one. The interior looked superb though, really classy with a quality look. But having said that, its pretty pricey so it damn well should look classy I suppose!

i think its ok as a car in its own right, can't see why they called it a delta though, it hasn't got any lines on it that are even slightly the same as the old delta.

Reminds me of the new Bravo from the flank, probably based on Sti... Bravo running gear and chassis. Nice car, shame they are no longer in the UK.

i like it, though haven't seen one in person, i think it's a tragedy they left the uk market, the mark 2 delta wasn't that good looking from photos though.

There are lots of em here , quite a pretty car but it can never match the so many years waiting for it , or the amount of the advertisment it was given(at least here).It's only beautiful with big(not enormous) rims and two colors(there is a version that comes out like this-can't remember if it's only the roof that's painted differently).But again , the back side is kind of weird and looking at it's profile , it's waaaaay too long.The handling can't much the ancestors either.+Too many electronic stuff.

The Delta is called the Delta for the same reason as the Golf is called the Golf.
Lancia have used the Greek alphabet for many years. They couldn't really call one of their cars the Alpha, but otherwise their models have been called Beta, Gamma, Delta, Ypsillon and Thesis. There was also an early model called the Theta. I'm not sure if Theta or Thesis is actually a Greek letter. Perhaps they all are. The first ever Lancia was actually called the Alfa. Maybe they didn't register the name which could be why Alfa Romeo were able to use it.

The Model T Ford, VW Beetle, VW Golf and Toyota Corrolla have two things in common. They are all massive selling cars and they all kept the same name for decades. The FIAT Tipo will never feature on the list of the World's top selling cars for more than one reason, but the major one is that they didn't sell it for long enough.

It would have been a lot easier if one of the 3 brands had been dropped because marketing them all must be a nightmare.

Personally I can't wait for Lancia to return and I would definitely buy one. One oddity about Lancia is that since their withdrawl from right hand drive markets, a number of their models have, instead of pictograms on the minor controls, have had the functions written in English!?
