Hi all.

New forum member here. Located in Sweden.

Having issues with my Fiat Ducato. It will not start. It is from 1995 and having the 2,5 TDI engine.

All injectors are getting diesel, i have also switched to a new fuelfilter.

It runs when i spray gas to the intake but dies direct when i stop.

any ideas what to look for? my thoughts are the fuel injection pump but i don´t know? im far away from a Fiat work shop and don´t want to spend that money on it either.

all ideas and help are very welcome!

Thank you very much // Fredrik

Hi Fredrik,

A diesel engine in good condition needs 3 conditions to enable starting.

1. A good air supply.
2. Injection of clean fuel.
3. Cranking speed over 150 rpm.

Points to consider.
Is the air supply OK? Any chance of mice in the air filter causing a partial blockage?
Is injection timing correct? These engines have a device to advance the injection when cold. See here. (Interesting anyway.)
Is the engine stop solenoid valve on the injection pump OK? If sticking it could restrict the fuel supply.
