Please can some one help,My air-con isn't working! the kids are roasting and do they let me know about it :( . I've had a mate check it out , he says the condenser and tubes appear fine also the gas level is ok! but when I press the air con button the temp doesn't change, even thougth orange light is on. :bang:
Any ideas!!

sounds to me like the compressor isn't working for what ever reason, can you feel the air-con 'kick in' when you turn it on... i.e. do the engine revs change at idle, and can you hear the engine strain a little if idling with the air-con on?

Hi Alex, no engine does'nt change when air-con turned on  .It used to, do you think compressor faulty? Also do you know where fuse for air-con is? Incase just blown fuse/ cheers!

No idea, sorry, I've not got a multipla. You could try the fuse as you say... that would be my first port of call...

when you turn the fans on, does air come out of the vents?

I could be wrong, but the compressor will probably be driven from the auxilliary drive belt, and have a magnetic clutch which will engage the compressor when required, if the fuse hasn't blown, then I suspect the clutch may have failed, but as I say I'm not entirely sure.

Take a look at the electrical connections if your fuse has blown, cables can rub together, and short out some times, or multiplugs get water in them etc.. if any of the above look dodgy you may want to get them replaced and then see of the AC works.

Does the power steering still work? (if not the aux-belt may be snapped, but you would probaby have noticed that already!)
