Lastnite my mouse died, for very distressing time for me :(

The silly pack of 30 "Supacell" Batteries I bought for a quid to save money in a ound shop must have have some sort of strange content other than Alkaline cause the mouse packed up about 2am lastnite.

Anyone know what UM3 means? or is that a strange way of saying AA Size?

I can't Fast Foward or Rewind me MP3's anymore and navigating to links on sites takes forever, and erm.... so far thats the only trouble Ive run into but navigating with the KB is sSSOOooooo fookin loooooong.

trance; powercell/supacell batteries are truly awful and are only good for very low drain devices, clocks, remote controls and the like.

Um3 is as you guessed, another word for AA, if they fit, they should work. Also, the battery contents unless leaking shouldn't be a problem. However, the keyboard/mouse problem may be caused by lack of power. Try putting in some decent batteries and see if you still get the same problem. Try also resetting them if you have that facility and also re-syncing them.

I don't understand The label clearly states "Super, Extra, Mad Crazy Like HEAVY DUTY batteries"

FALSE EXCENTRIC ADVERTISING!

That means I have to buy more batteries.... guess it'll be cheaper then a new mouse, I got £50 for finding a dodgy Credit card at work :D

Tried resetting it but the mouse was all dead and not moving, tried slapping it back to life as thats all I learned in the online teach yourself first aid manual but it didn't work (n)

Will let you know how it goes... if it needs replacing... I'm getting a BlueTooth one.

The mouse might be dead forever :( me thinks there is a circuitry problem, The Acid that was coming from the Supacells wern't right, Im sure of it. in any case I'm hoping you can dry Alkaline or whatever chemicle substance was in the Supacells as im leaving the mouse on the Radiator for the night, and for tomorrow, I know heat can damage the mouse more but I'm not risking much as the moment.

If it doesn't dry out whatever was inside it then it needs a replacement, I'll give it 2 days of none use, not touching things for a couple days used to bring em back to life when I was young.... maybe the magic still works.

Send it back?

THe battery naming is very difficult, even super heavy duty on them can often be for ultra low drain, basically if you have something high drain i would advice good batteries or high capacity rechargables, you will waste your time with crappy batteries since they just don't give the voltage for a decent period.

Eh? Drying alkaline batteries? Am I missing something here?

I'm sorry your mouse has died, perhaps its time for a hamster :D

I would send the mouse back... or get it replaced, but I've had it for ages and darned if I know where the receipt is :( I'll look for it tomorrow. should still be under manufactures warrenty.

I tried puttin Duracells in there like I used to but it worked for around 10 seconds then packed up, then came back to life for about another 20 seconds then packed up.

Took the batteries out, cleaned the contacts, adjusted the contacts (not that they needed it but just to be sure) then it worked for about 30 seconds intermittently then died permanently.

now its drying or on radiator. not much esle I can try the mouse is moulded and can't be dismantled.

LOL I meant drying the Alkaline from inside the mouse on from the Battery :p

I ain't seen a Hamspter with enough eyes. My mouse had 5 and a single rolling forhead. such a special little guy :( I'm gonna miss it....

until I get a new one.

Do you mean the batteries leaked?

You know what? I'm not sure.

They look sealed but they so damn cheap I wouldn't be suprised.

when batteries usually leak its brown stuff aint it? a couple times I changed the batteries and they felt moist, later I rubbed my eyes and it burned :bang:

but it were a clear see through liquid like water, come to think of it thats what car battery water looks like innit....

might very well have leaked.

Solution to fixing this problem?

same ol' try to save money somehwere, end up spendin' it somehwere else :bang: That'll teach me to be cheap.

The only solution I can think of is to get a new mouse. I doubt you'll get a replacement as it is technically nothing to do with the mouse. I'd say the batteries have leaked.

Trance, the stuff that leaks from batteries will be clear but it goes brown and nasty after some time of being oxidised AFAIK. If it has leaked into the mouse and got onto the PCB you will have a bit of a problem and I doubt leaving it to dry out will help :(

Car batteries are very difficult, the liquid is sulphuric acid and distilled water to dillute the concentration/top up.

Rather than me typing it out, this is generally what batteries contain:

Your cheap batteries will be zinc-carbon. The batteries should have been fine, they wouldn't have lasted a while but shouldn't have really damaged anything, though, some people say you should avoid cheap batteries with anything electronic and preserve them for electrics (say a clock). I personally use that sort of battery as I have said for low drain things like clocks and small radios.

And I wanted to use my money for clubbing as well :( Wheres the bloody crying Icon... oh

I just wont tell em it were the batteries and that the mouse jus died one day, if I can get it replaced for free I will do, I KNOW MY STATUTORY RIGHTS! :p

Thanks guys (y)

Dumb gay mouse.. or rather... dumb gay batteries

lol, I bet they will replace it, some numpty fitted a new mainboard in my laptop because the PSU socket had been damaged, If i was them I would have just said "you broke it!".

Make sure no obvious signs of battery leakage is present (obviously ;)) It might have been something else anyway. My cordless optical mouse broke after about 10 months so i guess the things do just break - new bluetooth one coming tomorrow i hope :D

Use it for clubbing and buy a £2 wired one :)

Still only a few quid for a cheapo optical one these days, the male one will keep you going.

BTW: I was so glad a real mouse hadn't died, I was going to be upset when I first posted on here.

LMAO HAHAHA :p My intent was to cause emotional Distress... then have it overcome with relief as ecstasy is better when your feelin low

I FIXED THE MOUSE Bludcluuut I'm HEavY! Well most of it, its much more stable now and aint switched off yet, its occasionally scrollin on its own.

I found the Acid Spilage, it had joined two data rails and was causin some confusion, scraped majority of it off with a safety pin then used a tissue to remove the remainder :D
