Why cant i find anything anywhere for performance parts for a 1.4 uno start plus ! everything is for a turbo :bang:

It's because most of the Uno following is for the UT when it comes to modifying - there are some exceptions however.

In terms of tuning, the most demand is from UT owners, so that's where companies would attend to first :)

You cant find anything because its an old car with a now unused engine.

with the 1.4 IE there are some general mods you can do like induction kits (cinq sporting K&N fits it) and exhaust systems (most likely custom) but really if you want some serious power, why not either convert it to a 1.4 turbo uno (its the same engine, just different head and all the turbo parts) or you could convert it to the 1.6 8v from the Tipo. its a straight swap for the 1.4 lump. uses the same gearbox etc.

Your not going to get much more power out of it with off the shelf parts as there really arent any about.

You could get head work done and lightening and balancing etc but this is alot more costly. Do some research and look into custom parts. If youve got the money, you can do anything! but then you have to think if its worth doing it on a 15 year old car worth a few hundred quid. This isnt the best way to look at modifying but when spending serious money on a car you have to take it into consideration.

Really if you are serious about getting some power out of your uno, I suggest doing the Turbo conversion. There is no substitute (y)

lol it aint the same engine at all with a different head,

if you want to modify your 1.4 then a induction kit, stainless steel exhaust system and a piper cam would make it go a bit quicker, still better to get a turbo engine as with a few simple mods will push out double the power of your 1.4

whats different about it?

The 1.4 8V turbo is based on the 1.4 8v N/A. the the same lump underneith (bar a few changes) but uses a different head and inlets etc. there is quite alot of difference but behind it all is the same block.

hence why you can make a 1.6 turbo using the tipo block and its possible to swap the 1.4 block for the tipo 1.6 block. they are both straight swaps.

I'm no mechanic but you can't just bolt on the turbo head, inlets etc onto a non turbo block and expect it to work. The turbo block runs at a much lower compression for one thing. Not sure on the conrods and crank, but again, it is likely that the block on the turbo was strengthened to cope with nearly double the horsepower in standard trim let alone tweaked form!
The 1372cc normally aspirated engine is definately tweakable. I race a 1498cc version of this engine myself, and also know a guy that had a 1372cc race uno, which developed 150bhp, so anything is possible. I would suggest an induction kit, hotter cam from piper or kent, and a performance exhaust. These fairly cheap mods alone will see circa 90bhp without too much effort.

right as unoracer said.
but for start, porting head and custom exhaust would make a noticeable different. plus less restricted air filter (such as k&n) for better 'engine breath' and hotter cam would be a good choice!
and certainly as a natural law of human dissatisfaction, we will demand for more power, and that is time to go for force induction (y)
dont forget to uprate your braking system :D

Right the 1.4t shares the same block from the NA uno's, its just modified slightly. It is still the same casting though, the modifications are carried out after i believe, such things like the oil return from the turbo, its a drill and a tap affair.

1600 conversion has been done, the 1.4t head will fit.

1.4t block is weak ish. It wont take the load the closed deck 1.3 block will.

The internals are different in all 3 cases; 1.3t, 1.4 and 1.4t.

basically the block is the same, the turbo has forged pistons, sane crank, conrods with bigger gudeon pin hole, head has got bigger combustion chamber and place 4 knock sensor.
NA 1400 has a bigger intake valve than the turbo, but smaller exhaust valve.
both have double valve springs, turbo valve springs just a bit longer than NA.

what to do 4 power on 1400 NA
get cam cut, port and gasflow cylinder head, port match intake, fit UT exhaust valves,ut valve springs, lightened and balanced bottom end, do not lighten flywheel too much as u can loose plenty of torque and may result in flywheel failing if not done right. bigger carb or fuelinjection with induction kit. branch and freeflow.
skim head +-1mm or get thin copper gasket about 1mm thinner to get compression ratio up to about 10.6 : 1. this should give u a good power increase.
if u want to go higher with ur cr, you'll need to run high octane fuel.
