Hi All,

Hope your all well.

Does anyone have any recommendations for luggage solutions to make the absolute most of the space that is available in a Barchetta?

Im driving around 1200 miles on my own to Rome with as much of my belongings as possible..

Im conscious not to over burden my car... so might be looking at courier options.. Any recommendations on couriering luggage to europe would be appreciated!!

Many thanks!!

There's always the space where the hood folds into.

But you will have to go the whole way with the hood up...(n)

If it were me i wouldn't do that,go the whole way hood down...(y)

Good luck in Italy and take pics of your journey down....:)

I always thought a boot rack would be useful and even considered exploring the chance of finding a waterproof, hard suitcase. I did see a Mazda a while ago with a colour matched box on a boot rack and a friend suggested it might have been a big motorcycle top box similar to those fitted to big Harleys and Honda Goldwings etc. If you could get a 100% waterproof suitcase and got it sprayed to match the car, it might look good too. :D

We planned a trip to Siena in 2011, via France, Switzerland (Simplon Pass) & back through France (Menton, Carcassonne) then Santander for the ferry. For this we took soft cases to fill the boot & having acquired the proper boot rack, found a Samsonite hard case (eBay £11) fitted just right (with a bike lock for security). This worked for us for 15 days (although I had made sure booked hotels had a laundry service) & was fine last year on a shorter trip down the Pyrenees & back through France.

What a fantastic trip that must have been! I haven't driven over the Simplon Pass for 30+ years, but I still remember it like it was yesterday!

So good we didn't stop to take enough photos! But the experience taught us that with careful packing the Barchetta is good for a longer trip (2k miles+) ... and the twisty mountain roads really can be fun

on the Barchetta uk club site they offer a large purpose made dry bag that is tied down to the boot lid. Im taking my Barchetta to Poland next year for the summer I am going to use some dry bags tied to the boot that i have from my sailing days.
Might not look that great but i only need them for the one journey.
