Still on the starter motor - got one now though reconditioned one. I just can't see where the bloody thing is! Does anyone know where it is located and what work is involved in removing and replacing one?

I can't find the damm thing never mind know what (if anything) has to be removed... :(

Where did you get the starter motor from? So i know in future? And what was the cost?

The starter motor is behind the engine on the drivers side. You'll need to remove the drivers side front wheel and the plastic liner to gain access.

Dan, the starter motor is on the back of the engine, more over to the drivers side wheel. the easiest way to get to it is from under the car... jack it up, crawl under on your back and at the back of the engine look straight up :) its directly abvoe you, there are 3 13mm bolts iirc, but must admit its all second nature now after having replaced so many damn gear boxes... :(

if you need anymore help mate, add me to msn [email protected]

the price was £69+vat - plus a £15 suppliment - which you get back when you give them your old one. not a bad price and i ordered it at 12pm one day and it was in the next!

cheers andy - i'll probably be having a look at it over the weekend so i may well add you to my msn. thanks mate!

i'll update on how i get on as well...

:)

Dan, no worries mate, it is a bit of a pain in the arse, but if you have a short handled 1/4" ratchet and the right socket it isnt that hard, the only real prob is your arms start to ache being elevated right above the rest of your body while undoing it... you can get to the top bolt if not all if you have small arms and hands from above.. but you need to be a bit flexible aswell :)
