Technical Leave engine by the top

I have a Tipo 1400DGT and I have broked my cam belt [V]
In technicals review it's specified that the engine leave by the bottom, but I can't leave the engine like that because I haven't materials for this. [!]
But can I leave the engine by the top ? with the gearbox or without ?

hello welcome to the forum

why do you have to take the engine out? are you putting in a new one. when cambelt brakes it usaly only damages the top end.

The first reason is :

I wasn't sure that just the high part of engine are broken (valves...)

The second one :

I would wash the engine but it's not an obligation for me

And the last one :

My car is outdoor, and I don't want to put my tipo in garage because it's very inclined and if I can't repair my car, I should be a 'f**king idiot' [)] to put out my car from my garage.
So with the engine in my garage, I think it's without stress.

Ok, perhaps I would wait summer to make that, in 2-3 days (I'm a beginner)

So I'm agree with you, if can just leave the high engine it's more easy.
But just for information, you think it's possible to leave the engine by the top ?

i can't say off hand i will have to go to car brakers (place with dead cars) and have a look at a tipo, may take me a week, sorry.
but someone else may reply before

previously but not on tipos,i have put the car on ramps/axle stands,take the head of ,this allows you to drop the engine(which is half the height) and remove from underneath.you may have to remove the gearbox to move the block out.i used this method to change engines on my own with the only help being to lift the block back up ,although you can hire an engine lift for this.as i said i dont know if this works on tipos

the engine can be taken out from the top with or without the gearbox but there isnt much room
