Successfully managed to forget to tighten wheel screws fully after a job and it started to come loose after a few miles. Scary is not even close. It can happen and will. Have given myself Numpty of the Week award.:bang::worship:

That's very honest of you. :worship:

Only done this once -- on a Mitsubishi Colt, on the A40. Got interrupted, halfway through, by a friendly police officer; and forgot to finish tightening the bolts up.... I quickly realized -- what's that funny noise...?! -- as I pulled out of the lay-by, though....

This happened to me 2 weeks back, accidentally left cooper grease all over 4 wheel bolts after greasing up (didn't clean off properly)..was driving on carriageaway doing 70 for about 20miles, knocking noise became very loud. I was forced to pull over on double yellows in one way town when the noise became too worrying, rolled down to the beach at 3mph and felt like wheel was gonna fall off..got out and checked and 3 of the 4 bolts were 2 turns away from coming out of the wheel!! Just caught it and very stupid of me! :(

Lol, not ignoring. I don't use the forum much atm, pop on every few days check notifications then bomb off back to facebook. (dare i say i'm bored of the forum!?) eeek!

And your obviously referring the the 37 miles i did at 80mph on the M64 (or M68?) toward Goole with 3 loose nuts, and what can only be described as the most terrifying (violent!) vibrations i've ever witnessed. Actually had cramp when i got there my arms hurt so much clinging to the wheel. After pulling over i couldn't find the fault to these vibrations, until it was pointed out to me upon arrival of my destination.

Easily done, and i'll know next time what it is, but being a novice with these things i learnt that one fast (and the hard way)

(back to facebook now)
