I had the same a while back, 80miles left on the computer and it took 35litres.
Definately a dodgy pump reading as it is the only fill that the trip mpg and calculated have been more than 2mpg out.

Well the light came on on the way home, and having a rare sensible streak I filled up just before getting in.

63.1 UK MPG on August 10, 2009: Miles: 433.0 Litres: 31.192 Price: £3.97 per litre.
To get 420+ I have to be well down on what's left in the tank, it was claimed to have around 90-100 left tonight.

It will be interesting to see how it goes from now on.
