iPod touch or Creative Zen?

In the market for a new mp3 player and am torn between these two.

Pros of the Zen;
SD card slot for additional storage
Cheaper
Built in FM radio

Cons;
Doesnt have any docks avaible.
Poor headphones

Pros of the touch;
Many docks avaible.
Built in speaker
Better battery life

Cons;
£50 more expensive
No FM radio

Is there anything else i need to be considering, like does the Zen have a clunky useless interface, or is the touch easy to break? There is only so much you can gleam from reading specs and playing with the devices in shops. I'm after real world experience with them.

I had a Creative Zen Touch years back - crashed a lot and eventually packed up all together. Have stuck with iPods since - worth the extra in my book.

I have a Creative Zen Touch, and depsite being battered to within an inch of its life it still works prefectly.

ipod classic.. guessing that has none of the video playing crap / wifi stuff that mp3 players just dont need?

Recommend the iPod - have a 80Gig classic myself but sister has the 16gig touch and it's a great piece of kit. Knocks the Zen out of the water (my old one wore in pretty bad - case scratches and cracks easily), and it has more features - gaming on it is brilliant!

Also having the Zen after a long line of iPod made it difficult to get used to the controls. iPod FTW :slayer:

Not sure exactly which model of Zen/ iPod you're looking at Arc, but have a look on Amazon and you can read loads of user reviews of all models. Both the Zen and iPod seem to score similar user ratings.

and it has more features - gaming on it is brilliant!

here in lies the problem, i don't want to play games or watch videos on an mp3 player.. but listening to the radio might be nice. Seeing as though none of the ipods seem to be able to do that.. they all loose.

I bought a Zen when they first came out about 4/5 years ago. It was small and worked well as I had only ever used windows media player which it could be used with. I had it about a year or maybe a tad more and the whole thing went in the bin. Headphones broke, headphone jack broke, nd then it just froze completely.
Now my ipod has been great, no complaints... my friend has the touch and I would get one as they have many features of an iphone but without the phone bit! come on!

re old creative zen, you mean the touch?

ipod touch is too expensive i got my 80gb ipod for £150 and they are even cheaper now.

why would you pay £150 for an ipod that has less memory.

between me and my mates we had about 8 creative mp3 players a few years ago.

every single one of them broke we all now have Ipods and i hate to say it but they are much better.

Not sure if you have made a decision yet but here are a few thoughts from me.

I have the radio remote that works on my classic but it's not compatible with my touch. I'm not sure if there is another version avaiable that the touch can use.

I would rate the touch over the creative easily, there are some great apps and internet browsing is really fluid.
The audio and video interface is the best I have seen with direct access to goodies like youtube and BBC iplayer. The screen is pin sharp.

one note on radio, I use mine as an internet radio player - I know you cant use this beyond the reach of your wifi but it's really handy to be able to pick from wealth of internet stations.

Another option is the iphone as this would allow you to stream internet radio anywhere - tho the cost of the contract is the killer there and the main reason I went for the touch.

Anyway - I expect you have made a choice by now - what did you get?
