iphone 3g jailbreak

hi
i want to jailbreak my iphone 3g but i keep getting confused with all the technical lingo on all the sites
i have realised that ineed to uninstall the 4.1 firmware and re installthe 4.0.1 firmware but i have no idea how to do so
i tried to follow a few guides on the web but to no luck:bang:

please help me

update the phone to 4.2.1 (providing you are using the phone with the network it was purchsed on ie o2), if its unlocked im not to sure of the additional steps needed to keep the carrier unlock

once updated go to http://greenpois0n.com/

download the program for your operating system

run the file and follow the steps, once it reboots after "dfu" mode it should all be done and dusted
