Hello again guys,

Everybody opened their calenders yet? LOL

Does anyone know any good and reasonably priced seat upholsters in the Bedfordshire area (or anywhere else if they can come to me)?

My Barchetta has cloth interior, but as I said in another post (I think!) it has gone horrible and damp after leaving the B under a tree for 3 months (while settling back into the UK).

So I would like to get it upholstered with black leather. how much does this generally cost?

Even better, is there a DIY way to do it??

Thanks for your time guys.

Chris

look a bit further into the blue barchetta topic. it mentioned kits for upholstry of the seats.

Don't worry, I found that out.

Considering they are strapped on or something, Do they look good?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,
I am pretty sure that they replace the original covering. So you remove the seats from the car, remove the current fabric from the seats and then stretch the new covers on to the seats. I imagine its quite hard work.

I am sure that there are pics somewhere on the forum when someone did it but I can't remember who. They do look pretty good but I want to get originals or go to an upholstery place to get them done as I am not that convinced by the leather quality.

Hmm,

The yellow stitched on that website seats look great, as I have a yellow B.

I have had quotes from various upholsters and it is 500+ quid! They may as well empty my wallet.

Regards,

Chris

yeah I have a creme white barchetta and those uphosters would be the dogs.
If anyone is willing to buy and try I could make up my mind

I completely agree with you patches, but I really can't afford 500 quid for the same kind of thing, even though it would probably fit better.

If you can find an upholster for a reasonable price, then by all means give me a link for them.

Thanks,

Chris

To be honest, the leather cover on the German link is becoming an extremely realistic option.

I got someone to translate the german, and apparantly it just goes over the cloth, no ripping or fitting needed.

Yeah, they look okay, eh.. Velcro fastening and tension straps to brace the seat, so it's not a workshop job. Any German speakers to explain 'Unterkaschierung' of 1.00 cm? I wonder if the leather covers the entire back panel, although with just a bulkhead behind the seats, it scarcely matters, I s'pose.

Renato did end up taking the seats to a professional to stuff them better i think.. a lot of the foam was rather flat...
