That'll be interesting, its1.4L, 89K miles, 08 plate. 2 owners.

MOT shows a fail 18 months ago for the front subframe, which was repaired. Was it replaced or welded do we think?

There's an oil leak, most likely the sump.

Usual corrosion on the springs.

Window regulator is broke, fiat badge gone, scratches etc. some internal damage.

I could probably buy this for £500.

I mostly want it because its 5 doors.

Thoughts?

At auction with all those faults I’d say £500 is a bit steep, you may be the only bidder, I would say don’t bid first and it no one is bidding about an offer less than the opening bid

It'll start at maybe £350 and drop to £250 if no one bids, or maybe start at £250, which is the scrap price, and i'd get it for that unless there is another bidder. I would't pay more than £500.

I may not bid at all if the subframe is welded rather than replaced, what do you think about that thought?

Personally, unless I really needed a car and that is all I can afford, I would walk away.

There are so many of these about now, most of them are poorly treated and only fit for scrap.

Have a look around Facebook market place see which ones are taking ages to sell and then pick one up very cheap probably with some MOT left on it

I'm hoping because its only had 2 owners it has been well treated, will see. I currently have 3 cars, but one is SORN and i'm just taking parts off it. I'd like to go back to 3 working cars, in part to future proof myself as I use a lot of mileage and in part because my son will be learning to drive this coming year. So i'm going to give him...you guessed it, a Grande Punto :) LOL. It is the perfect car to learn to drive in, because its retail value is low and it won't matter if he damages it. I also want a 5 door car again. Learning to fix cars is my hobby at the moment, and i do enjoy it, that might change if i buy a piece of junk lol. Do I really need this car, well no...
