Hi all,

My HGT came with the standard Stereo with Multi CD Changer in the boot, the CD Changer is on its way out and can the cable from the MDC be altered to suit AUX input so i can use an RCA from my BB to play music.

Also I have a tape stuck in the Stereo, I know no one ever listens to tapes anymore but i found one of mine which had some classics on stuck it in it plays but just will not eject...how do i get it out Please Help!!

your better off replacing the standard head unit with one that has bluetooth then not only do you get hands free but also you can stream music via bluetooth to the stereo to listen to it.
thats what i have done and it works well

Thanks Andy, but ive had a number of aftermarket stereo's with DVD, 7" LCD Screens but unless you pay decent money they dont last long as i have so found...there either stolen or laser go them. Then there is the hole in the dash that is left after fitting an AM Stereo.

I like the look of the rounded dash with the standard stereo and the Sound quality is not bad at all....

Does anyone know what the below wires from the Blue Connector correspond to ie. with is the Audio which is the power ect

(This was taken from the guide to make your own cable)

Grundig CD Changer Cable Wiring Anyway.. the cable is wired as follows

If you number the pins on the din plug clockwise 1 to 7 with pin 8 being the middle one the cable is wired as follows

1-2
2-4
3-5
4-8
5-3
6-7
7-6
8-1

The second number is the corresponding position of the wire in the blue connector as follows.

6 7 8
4 5
1 2 3

Thanks in advance.

Well for the cost of 74p for 3x resistors and a spare PC Audio Cable i know have a IPOD\IPHONE\MP3\BLACKBERRY AUX input..

I didn't even have to butcher the existing Grundig cable... Just bridged off the back of the blue connector an popped the resistor in disconnected the cable from the CD Changer and bingo..

The Blackberry Pearl i have has an audio boost function plus equaliser and the sound is really good coming from my 8 speakers... standard in dash tweeters, door components with separate tweeters and my shelf 6x9s... Sounds really good and this a mod well worth doing for anyone out there with the CD Changer Fiat Stereo....

FAO - TommyK

Hi

I tried to get the bits to build it and the ISO Mini-C connector was the hard bit. If you have a cd changed you'll have one and it's made up of three secionts, one blue, one gree, and one yellow I think. I tied local ICE shops did not sell it so I was going to butcher the cable for the CD player. I found them online but they were £2 for the block and £2 for the pins plus post and I'd have to play with the soldering iron...

However as I said the ebay one (and no it's not mine) I'm a customer (gjchester) was £4 or so delivered and £1 for a phono to headphone jack so I guess I paid £5 or so for the lead, plus the original CD changer one is still there should I ever need it (unlikely but...)

Switching between MP3 and CD changer?

Hi guys,

Is there a way to connect a MP3 player through the Aux and keep the CD changer connected, so that I can switch between the 2? Maybe even just by keeping the connection in the glove box?

I'm a complete novice when it comes to car audio, but I can make up cables if needed. Would be nice if it was just a surface mounted switch somewhere?

Just so happens i tried this yesterday, answer is NO, cus you have to remove the Resistor in order for the CD player to be detected.... if anyone else has found a way round this please let us know.. cheers

Switching between MP3 and CD changer?

Hey Karl,

Could you post up a picture of your setup if it is easy to do? I might be able to figure something out.

And as for a switch, I realise that is a silly suggestion due to the amount of wires involved, it was late, what can I say?

It may be that you can have separate connections for both, and the resistor could be on the MP3 side of the connections.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Switching between MP3 and CD changer?

After only having the car for a week I'm beginning to remember why CD changers aren't popular. Every little bump in the road makes it jump. Is there a way to mount the unit differently in the boot to reduce jumping? Mine seems quite loose.

Hi David,

I used the instructions from the link below..

http://homepage.eircom.net/~digitalreilly/bravo/AD182_aux_input.html

Half way down the page there is a simple pic showing the pins where you would connect a cable and resistor to, no point reading the instructions as it is so easy to do... PIN 13 + 15 are the bus line connections i assume this is used for some method of data transfer between the Stereo and CD Player... putting the resistor in tricks the Stereo into thinking the connection is AUX...

I have left my cable for the MP3 connected but removed the resistor i guess you could bridge a lead from 13 + 15 with a switch to activate the resistor when using the MP3....

As for the CD Player location you could root it under the passenger seat... middle of the car wouldn't feel bumps as much as the back...

karl have you still got that fake front or did you say you had got rid? (cant remember) just with you using a fiat stereo?

Switching between MP3 and CD changer?

Cheers Karl, I'll get right to it. I guess the cable is pretty easy to re-route out of where it currently resides. It works perfectly well other than the constant skipping.

Hi Mike,

Yea im sure i still got it.... i'll have a look tonight. You can have it pal... i'll give it my cousin who live's just off Blackpool Old Road near Carlton Crossing... you could just pop round and collect from there.

David,

Cable is routed down passenger side i think its just a few screws to remove the plastic trim and then you should find the cable...
