Hi,

Our odometer (mileage gauge) has been flashing and the Blue & Me is almost completely dead. No menu options or anything. The only signs that the car has ever had Blue & Me are:

- You see the "Blue & Me" splash screen (on getting in or starting the engine, I forget which).

- If I try and update the software via USB, it is able to put a BMConfig.xml file on the USB stick, and it also writes to the log file. When trying to update to version 5.6, it wrote a message to the log file telling me to update to 5.5 first, so it seems that the Blue & Me brain is there in one form or another.

I've read that disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for 10 minutes should reset the Blue & Me system. I've tried this, and all it did was make the car forget what time it is. It didn't even ask for a radio code or anything. Our car is a Start & Stop 500, so I don't know if there's something different there.

Prior to trying to fix the problem myself, I called the dealer, and they said with the blue & me not working, and the odometer flashing, it sounds like the blue & me unit is dead, and would cost about 500 quid to replace!

Can anybody please suggest a way of fixing this, preferably without spending 500 quid!

Car won't need a Code for the Radio as it only asks for it if the radio is fitted in a car different to what it came out of the factory with.

Also sounds like the B&M unit could have become corrupt in update, although not heard of anyone else managing this.

10Min won't be enough to disconnect the battery really, might be worth trying 30-60min or over night.

Failing that a Proxy alignment might work.

Have you managed to fix this yet?
I have the same problem - flashing mileage and Blue & Me not working.
Haven't tried an update yet, waiting for memory stick to be delivered.

Not yet, haven't had a chance to leave it for a long period yet, but I'll update on here when or if something develops.

and make me enter a radio code.

Now this is interesting as if its the original head unit this shouldn't happen.

The flashing mileage also indicates an issue with the CanBUS system, possibly due to the B&M system being faulty and defunct and the car not finding it.

Has it ever worked?

MEP is right, a proxy alignment needs to be run to 'discover' all of the CAN nodes (including B&M). If it doesn't work, then there might be a fault with wiring (earthing or even the battery can affect CAN), or the B&M unit is faulty.

Do you know how much it costs for a proxy alignment? Thanks
