Technical How do I remove the window winder?

As the title says, How do I remove the window winding handle without damaging it.

I need to remove the door cards to replace with new ones, but also to add a passenger side mirror and replace the glass.

I have had a look, admittedly, in the dark, but cannot find a way to do it

Please help

not many x19s on here im afraid... if its anything like other (more recent) fiats ive worked on, theres usually a C-shaped clip in a groove behind the winder with 2 little bent in sections to hold it into a groove on the shaft. a small jewelers screwdriver can usually slip down the gap behind the winder and be used to prise the clip off without leaving any signs of tampering.

to refit its just a case of putting the clip back in the groove on the winder and pushing it back onto the shaft.

yup, just like Xen said. Although I use needle nose pliers.

Just be warned that those clips *are* sprung and tend to spring off - the distance they can travel is surprising, as is their ability to lodge in the most obscure places...
