Our 2008 X250 160 motorhome has just been in for an engine service, MOT and a new LED high level marker light at the rear. Before today, the horn worked fine.

Coming back from the garage today, had to use the horn on the M54 and the bloody thing stuck on for about a minute - embarrassing driving along in lane 1 with two twin Stebel Nautilus horns giving it large.

Tried it again on a quiet road and pressing the horn on the steering wheel produced no sound at all. Persisted with a few more thumps on the air bag and then the bloody horns came on again and went off by themselves in a couple of seconds.

So where's the best place to start looking given that all worked fine before the garage got their hands on it?

I had this on my 2001, was watching TV one evening and heard a horn, suddenly realised it was my van, some job to get it silenced, had to pull wires off it. I solved it by mounting the horn on a thick piece of nylon, this means it can't earth through the bracket. I had a sheet of nylon about 8mm thick and cut a strip to use as the mounting bracket.

Update - read a lot about relays and watched YouTube videos. On getting to the relays for the horns, one relay had no power and the other was on its way out. Two new relays from Halfrauds and all's good.

My X2/50 horn came on till it burnt out - it was rainwater dripping in from a leaky windscreen on to the horn button. Cured itself when I sealed the windscreen, and been OK for 3 years.
