Hi, ive noticed that when i quote for insurance every time i say my mileage is higher than 12k the price shoots up. does anyone know of any companies that are competitive on high miles?

cheers :)

no, but i also dont know of anyone who says they do more than 10,000 miles per year to the insurance company, even thought they know they'll do a lot more than that (i usually do 20k or more but i've never quoted more than 10k). its like saying the car is garaged even if you havent got a garage, everyone does it.

by the way the lass in that avatar pic has a quality arse. :)

I was thinking about this milage thing the other day. I'm down as 5000 per year, but the last two years my broker asked what milage I was on and I said I dont know, they never asked me to let them know or anything. Now with computerised MOTs, are they likely to use it against you.

MOT milage doesnt mean anything, how can they proove you did all the miles, anyone could have driven it. i drive my girlfriend's car all the time, it doesnt mean she has to be insured for any miles i drive as my insurance is liable while i'm driving

Bad idea to say your car is in a garage when its not, due tot he fact that if your car got broken in to, your inurance would be void because your car wasnt in the garage.

although just put down 12k a year on milage, i havent heard of anyone questioning this b4.

Mine is pegged at 25K per anum incl. 1.5K business use... just as well as my last Stilo covered 27K in 15 months (would have been 29K but the other 2K split between 2 courtesy cars due to a bump)... gone JTD now!

Never stopped to think about mileage affecting my premium and at renewal this year when I was looking for cost savings I was told by various companies that the mileage didnt make much of a difference. Im with HSBC (formerly Corinthian), may be worth a try if you are gonna rack up the miles (y)
