Punto (Mk2/2b) Hi from dublin ireland

hi every1 i just bought a 2000 punto sporting 1.2 16v :slayer:

the head gasket was gone on it so while taking it apart i removed timing belt with out marking it up is there any1 here that can give a picture r any help at all please :worship:

Hello.

These 16valve punto's dont have timing mark's as such.

theyre timed up by locking the cam and inserting rod's down cylinders 1&2

special timing tools are used for this but

two rods of equal length can be used & a short socket extension bar
too lock the camshaft can be improvised,

have a watch of this video,

the piston height is set at MDC (Middle dead centre) not tdc on these.


once you get this running if it sounds moody at top end (oil-starved) switch it off quick, these 16v lumps are very easy to put headgasket on upside down
